About Us
What We Believe
St. Luke congregation provides for the spiritual needs of the people of the community and the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ on the basis of the Holy Scriptures.
We proclaim the Law and Gospel, to lead sinners to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ for life and salvation, strengthen believers in faith and sanctification through the means of grace, and equip believers as disciples, stewards and witnesses for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our fellow man.

Our Pastor

Pastor Ronald Szep grew up on a farm outside of Oshkosh, WI.
He enrolled at Northwestern Preparatory School, Watertown, WI, as a sophomore in high school.  Following graduation from “Prep” he enrolled at Northwestern College, Watertown, which is part of the worker training system of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). He graduated from Northwestern College in 1973 and began studying for the pastoral ministry the following fall at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Meqon, WI. He graduated from the seminary in 1977.
Following graduation, Pastor Szep was united in marriage to Nancy Ehlert. They moved to Montgomery, AL, shortly after their wedding where Pastor Szep served a mission congregation, St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church.
Door County became the Szeps' new home beginning in 1978 where Pastor Szep served two rural congregations: Emanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, outside of Forestville, and St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, outside of Kewaunee.
He served those two congregations until the fall on 1985 when he and his family moved to Little Chute. He has served at St. Luke since then. The Szeps have a daughter and son-in-law, Christine & Gregg, who live in northwestern Wisconsin. Pastor Szep is planning to retire from the fulltime ministry next summer.

  • Sunday School
Our Sunday School classes are held after the Sunday worship service September thru May for any child in grades 4K-8.
(For the 2021-2022 school year, plans are being made to hold classes virtually.)
Sunday School provides a weekly study of lessons and applications from God's Word. The lessons help the children grow in their understanding of God's Word. The children memorize passages from the Bible and serve the congregation by singing special anthems during selected church services. Each Christmas, a Children's Service is held.
Volunteer staffing of our Sunday School includes teachers, assistants, and substitutes.
    Rachel Circle
The Rachel Circle is a service group for the congregation. All women of St. Luke are encouraged to become a member simply by attending the monthly meetings held September thru May.
The Rachel Circle activities include coordinating the Lenten and Advent Suppers, providing kitchen help and servers for funeral luncheons and other special services and activities such as the meal following church decorating in December. They also fill the Christmas Treat Bags given to the participants in the Children's Christmas Eve Children's Service.
Each year the Rachel Circle works on a special project to benefit the congregation. Mission monies are sent to synod-supported missions. These monies are above and beyond the amount St. Luke congregation gives.

    Student Groups
Lutheran Girl Pioneers and Lutheran Boy Pioneers are available to all our students. The groups are open to all in grades 1-12, meeting September through April. The groups provide constructive recreation and life skills, preparing our youth for lives as good citizens and faithful Christians.
    Prayer Team
The prayer team was formed for members to request private prayers on behalf of friends and loved ones in need.

The St. Luke Adult Choir is made up of confirmed members of the congregation. Rehearsals are held after the Wednesday evening worship service September thru December and February thru May. New members are always welcome.
    Altar Committee
Our Altar Committee is responsible for the physical needs of the altar area of the church.  Members make sure the altar is ready for the worship service by displaying the flowers provided, hanging the correct color paraments on the altar and lecturn, and by filling and placing the communion-ware for each communion service.  All supplies are provided by the church for the committee members except flowers.  Anyone may provide flowers for our worship services.  A sign-up chart is located in the church office.
Lord, give us unwavering faith to trust your promise to control all things for the good of your Church. Amen. ~ NPH 2004
